Will we register for our room or register for the show first? What is the first step as far as entry to any event we should expect? If we are going to be dropped off at the front door and a porter will take our bags, is the next step to register for a show badge or register for our hotel room?

The reason i am trying to get a specific answer is if the porter is going to check my bag then I can make it to my scheduled events of the evening (off property events) and I can always come back and do the registration thing later. If however I have to check into my room so the porter can deal with my bags, etc. then I am wondering what the order is for check-in. Is it hotel then show badge or show badge then hotel?
