After reading over this thread again, one thing in particular sticks out. It's mostly the girls who would choose brains, while the guys are the ones thinking that we should choose beauty instead. The people who think that a beautiful girl is most likely to end up with an "alpha mate" in a happy marriage are naive at best. Those same men who would choose to marry a woman simply because she is beautiful are the same men who will drop her when she hits 40 so they can find a 25 year old who looks better.
Sure, the 40 year old woman will end up with half of the guy's money and possessions, but without the brains to know what to do with them, those will be gone in no time flat, and she will be forced to remarry as quickly as possible... only this time she doesn't have her looks to fall back on.

A dumb beautiful woman may get farther ahead more quickly, but in the end I believe that intelligence will carry a woman much farther.

As somebody who has more intelligence than beauty, I can definitely say that I would love to be more beautiful. But would I trade in my intelligence for beauty? Never.
