This is the best. Can do serious damage and you'll never have to explain to a cop why you're carrying keys. Most other weapon can land you in trouble and aren't as effective.
mace - not very effective in an adrenaline situation. Plus when you start punching you get that shit all over yourself.
knife - terrible defense weapon. If you can't take a guy without it, chances are you can't take him with it. Unless you're trained in it's use you're probably going to have it taken from you. All attack energy will be focused on the arm with the knife.
