I once read an article in the paper regarding the use of the word "sucks" in domain names ie
www.kromesucks.com It stated that registrars were watching over the use of this more than any other word due to black mail type exploits. Basically people were purchasing domains like
www.nikesucks.com putting up an anti Nike site - they were however being 100% cautious with regard to anything that would cause libel action - and then approaching - say Nike - and saying we will keep pushing traffic to this site and ruining your trademark unless you pay us x amount of money. The people doing this were only asking for $500,000 which is nothing is comparisson to the drop in value of the trademark if Nike had not got the site removed.
Is this a load of bollocks?
