While it may not be pretty, they were trying to efficiently break their necks so they didn't ruin the fur. They were not skinning them alive.

While there are always some that take a little longer to die, or are harder to kill, no one was trying to skin one alive.

As far as the assertion that they were laughing, they were at work. They were talking to their co-workers. Have you never had a real job and interacted with your co-workers?
