Homosexuality is an aberration from the norm, and I mean that in a purely statistical sense. So is psychosis.
Who's to say they don't both serve some function essential to the survival of the human race? After all, without aberration there wouldn't be evolution. The United States was founded by aberrants.. people who didn't fit in in Europe, couldn't follow the rules, etc.
My own ancester (the first known one on my dad's side in the U.S.) was exiled there for stealing a goose. Australia as we now know it began as a prison colony. Both lands were filled with rebellious, adventurous types who wouldn't conform.
If you cure all "mental illness" you will soon find yourself in a homogenous, stagnant society. What if they had cured Galileo, Copernicus, and everyone else who challenged the beliefs and social inhibitions of his own time?
