i think we all have people like that in our lives - i know i do, i have a low threshold. worst was in high school, i had a guy for 2 years wanted to be my best friend, became like a stalker, showed up at my house all the time, hunted me down at school - he was a nice guy, not a loser, but i had no interest in him being a part of my life other than somebody i said 'hi' too. i never had the heart to tell him to go away. only way i really got rid of him for good was going away to college.

um.........worse, what if a person like this is in your family. i have that - i love my sister but a phone conversation with her is painful, she goes on and on and on and i'm just not interested in 90% of what she's saying - and again i don't have the heart to tell her so i'm stuck in 15 minute conversations listening to the minutiae of her day. i do sometimes fake emergencies or calls on the other line that have to be taken but then i feel real guilty so i don't do it much.

smart people pick up on the fact that you're not into them thankfully.
