I'm not sure if you didn't understand the first part of my post, or if you just picked up on that part from skimming?

but what I said was,

go to the camera setup, go to "File Numbering" option. It's set to "Continious" by default. Change that from Continious to "Auto Reset" and that should take care of your problem. Being that it's set to auto reset, when you power off the camera, it should start over simply cause it's auto reset.

Again to mirror what I said above, I've not tried it, but it makes logical sense to me. Continious will make it 1099>new folder 2000 so on and so fourth, where auto reset will go until you power the camera off. Once turning it off and back on, it will reset.
