I bet you Republicans have more respect for Clinton with his hard work and ambition, than Bush and his silver spoon life, right?
There's a HUGE difference between parents handing down wealth to their children [or other forms of private transfer] and the GOVERNMENT distributing social resources to programs that do not work or trap people in dependency. My point re "Daddy's Money" is that there's nothing wrong with inheriting a huge amount of cash that you did not work for [GWB falls in this camp]. There IS something wrong and annoying with bragging about and showing off your inherited money when you did not sacrifice, work, or otherwise deserve that cash [this is the Daddy's Money syndrome]. But this is a minor quibble.

Bill Clinton was a "New Democrat"--he actually signed a lot of Republican initiatives [welfare reform being the most visible]. He was very different from the old 60's liberal Democrat that Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank embody. There's a lot to admire in his rise from the rural working class to Georgetown to Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford to Yale Law. It is easy to see that the man is articulate and bright. But like a sizeable portion of the population, I had issues with his credibility during the Lewinsky ordeal.
