The British writer, VS Naipaul caught hell when he raised the point that sometimes formerly colonized peoples fare worse after the white colonials leave. He was insulted as a "self-hating Indian", a "sellout", etc. However, if you are intellectually honest and go through sub-Saharan Africa country by country, you can't help but agree with his assessment.

Then again, liberals would probably blame the sad state of affairs in Africa on the damage white colonialism inflicted on Africa. If this argument is true then Singapore and Hong Kong would be shitholes on a scale like Africa. They're not. Africa's failings stem more from tribal politics and corruption not the fact that the white man once ruled there.
