I worked in a federal fire dept for a while and knew a few guys that 'dabbled' in some model/photog/web work and as long as you keep it low key it's not gonna be a big deal...
...it really depends on how well you mesh with others, but really it's best to keep it to yourself imo......really......for a number of reasons, ie do you ever REALLY know who your future competitor for a position is going to be, do you ever REALLY know who might turn out to be a future adversary in any way shape or form? why give them ammunition....keep the discussions to 'web development, design, marketing, hosting, etc" and leave it at that
