Fill up 3 gallon bucket. Dump it in 5 gallon bucket.
Fill up 3 gallon bucket. Top off 5 gallon bucket leaving 1 gallon in 3 gallon bucket.
Empty 5 gallon bucket. Pour 1 gallon left in 3 gallon bucket into it.
Fill 3 gallon bucket again and pour it into the 1 gallon left in 5 gallon bucket.
