If the exact same feeling has happened before and then "gotten better" on its own, then it is probably not a collapsed lung. They don't get better on their own.

HOWEVER, through out the night, if it gets harder and harder to breathe then you should go to the ER and they'll take a chest X-ray for you. If it is a collapsed lung, they'll insert a chest tube and *normally* the lung will then reinflate on its own and you'll be home within a few days. Honestly though, it sounds more like a muscle pull since it's happened before.

Unfortunately, I know much more than I'd like to know about collasped lungs because my boyfriend was in the hospital for over 2 weeks with one a few years back (his case was unique and he had to have his lung surgically stapled back together because it would not reinflate on its own)
