Give me a break..if they even uttered that in ear shot of a reporter - let alone in an offical statement - it would be the biggest story in every paper today, tomorrow and this year. I am sure you don't know who Stephen Lawrence was but I live near where he was killed and most Londoners can tell you the effect his death had on the police force when it comes to race relations in this city. There is NO WAY they said that.
