I don't see how cameras in public places could possibly be interpreted as invasion of privacy! Simply because of the fact that you don't have privacy in public (the words contradict each other).

Suicide bombers don't care if they are filmed since they are going to die anyway, but in this case they failed and the cameras sure came in handy, I think it was what got them on to the guy they shot on the underground this morning.
And besides they are a great deterrent for all sorts of other crimes.
