I realize the White House leaks what they want to be published, but to give this information about the hows and wheres is a bit much I'd think..

btw, that's a fairly common thing to do.
Make the enemy spread his defense out to try and cover every conceivable point of attack. It spreads the defense out, weakening every point(s) of attack you actually intend on using.
Now instead of just stocking up on air defense (for example), he has to try and use his limited resources to cover everything, which makes attacking certain things easier.
