FARC is different because they are an army and a government in power.

FARC controls large portions of Colombia where they are the government. FARC is a revolution that hasn't been totally successful but that hasn't been defeated either. I know, no help. The issue of actually controlling a large population and territory gives FARC an air of political legitimacy which a terrorist group doesn't have. This is the main difference between a terrorist and a revolutionary.
