Rest easy Alien, the design isn't the problem.
It's impossible to judge a site with just 25k uniques sent to it, and that's what sos is doing because he's nervous. He needs to get a stats remote package (which he has via NATS) watch it for a good three weeks, and the answers will be pretty evident about what's going on and changes can be made.
Then he can tackle the REAL issue in his site's eventual success/failure: Retention.
He hasn't even gotten to that yet and it's far harder to diagnose and treat...But one thing at a time. He's making all the right moves as far as I can tell.
