I completely understand...
I lost 2 cats within 3 months of each other - both were 16.
It's kind of hokey, but it really helped me a lot to go to
www.petloss.com (be warned, the main page has music) and join in on their candle lighting ceremony for lost pets... they have a chat room and message board there as well.
