i got mine from a friend who was breeding them. i wouldn't reccomend ones from pet stores, they are usually not well adjusted, and you really should get at least 2 (of opposite sex). they are highly social animals and need alot of attention. clean food/water/cage once a day, and at least an hour of playtime with you at night. they are nocturnal, so they usually wake up at about 1am and want to play.
i don't reccomend these things to just anyone, they are wonderfully rewarding pets, but require a great deal of love and care.
they live for about 14 years, are omnivourous, but prefer to eat mostly fresh fruit and protein (insects, mashed turkey baby food etc...) you need to watch how much human food you give them because it's really not good for them, but they love to eat it.
my advice is to do alot of reading about them before you get one. if you have any cats or snakes, they are really not comfortable with thsoe in the same house, and may become very reclusive, and eventually depressed.
if you really want to put the time into them though, they are the best pet you could possibly get. i can literally watch him for hours run around and cut up.
