Unfortunately, the verbal assurances are worth the paper they are written on.

Every cell contract I've seen doesn't promise coverage. Hindsight being 20/20, the best thing to do is find a company that has a "trial" period (3-7 days) where you can tests the phones where you'll use them and return them if necessary.

I live in such a remote area that only Cingular will work here and I lucked out that we have a Cingular tower on the top of our mountain or that probably wouldn't work either, lol!
