Basically your airway gets constricted to the point where your breathing is completely blocked and eventually (hopefully) your brain signals that something's not copasetic and wakes you up.
Not only does it make you feel tired all the time ('cuz you never really get a good night's sleep) but it can cause strokes, heart attacks and death. So now I'm going to have this sleep study where you go to a clinic and are monitored all night to see how many incidences of apnea there are, etc. Then they can prescribe a CPAP machine (basically forcing continuous air into your airway) or surgery to remove soft tissue in the back of your throat.
Has anyone here been treated successfully for this?

I have it and i have had it for the last five years and it is one of the most annoying things i have ever had to deal with, as soon as you wake up in the morning, you feel like you have not been to sleep you have headaches as soon as you wake up your mouth is dry, you feel really tired, your moods can change all of the sudden, you can be really happy and then all of the sudden you can be really sad, you have the most bizarre dreams and nightmares, i am not sure about the surgery as it is very horrific surgery, but my doctor told me it has alot to do with the weight you are carring, so i am starting a diet this week to lose at least 15kgs, and see if i sleep any better from that, i know what you are going through and i would not wish that upon my worst enemy, my sleep study showed that i stopped breathing at least 500 times a night, you feel so un motivated becuase of this, i wish you well in trying to get rid of it, it has been a real devil in my life for the last five years and it even came between my ex finace and i becuase of my mood swings ect, and i am only 27
