Larry Flynt is a pornographer, and his efforts to allow pornography to exist is well documented.
Extreme Assocaites content, is pornography. And got tapped by DOJ because they found it obscene.
From articles that i have read, Larry Flynt does not particularly like the content from Extreme Associates. many adult industry people don't like extreme content, but while it is legal, it has the right to exist.
within each subgenere of pornography, there are degrees of extreme.
take for example: BDSM
there are more "mainstream" bondage content, and from there, it fractures off into specific niches, some get more and more graphic and violent.
Gay porn has a violent subgenre to it.
it's still pornography.
so yes, Child Exploitation is a subgenre of pornography.
the difference is that a large group (ie. pornographers) are trying to not associate their business and their industry with CE (which is illegal).
Until violent content is ruled illegal like production of content using children (under 18) , that content will be afforded the freedom to do so under the 1st amendment.
the batteground right now is what is "obscene", which will lead to what is legal. this is why 2257 and .XXX are monumental issues that look to define, contain, and regulate.
