1st- Check your local State and County laws. Some states have harsh penalties for having anything that looks like a real firearm, fake or not. If the other party believes you have a real weapon, its the same as an actual firearm. Example: If you rob a bank with a toy gun, and the bank employees believe it is a real firearm, you will be charged with armed robbery.
2nd- Pepper spray (law enforcement strength) is a great defense. If you can get it they make a personal can the size of breath spray and I have seen it in action. 2 sprays put 3 people on the ground choking and gasping for air.
My advice is to skip the BB gun. Either get a real gun and take a safety class and get some lessons offered at any gun range. Or get some pepper spray...
BTW, people have been killed by BB and pellet guns....
