If you were such good friends with the owner, I doubt you would be charged such a large amount for your meal. I know when I eat at a friends restaurant, I hardly pay that much on the bill, and yet, I would always be generous with the servers. Paying 8% for a tip, I would be embarassed.
Your tip should be based on service, not other factors.
