The Diet Coke with Splenda is the only thing I could see as an occasional replacement for Coke if I suddenly couldn't drink the regular. It still goes overkill in making up for being a diet drink by upping the sweetner level. All of the soda companies have edged toward sweeter drinks, even in the diet versions. I could drink Tab and original Diet Dr. Pepper back when it was made with Saccharine, but the blends they have now just have overloaded aftertaste.

As I mentioned in another thread, regular Cokes were ruined when they switched from sugar to corn syrup. When I was growing up, Cokes had a consistant taste, regardless of bottle, can, fountain, and you could open a 2 year old bottle and it would be fine. Now they have 2 month shelf dates and you'll never taste the same thing twice in different fountains. It's like the company has abandoned quality control. When I buy 2 liters at the store I try to get a couple with different dates. If one is sweeter and flatter hopefully the other one from a different lot isn't. Side benefit is I am enjoying more tea and water
