It's a hardware problem, or REALLY FREAKY BAD drivers. More likely a) badly seated PCI or AGP card(s), b) overheating.
Here's how to tell. Does it happen when you just turned the computer on after it's been off all night? No? Then it's overheating. Get a proper heatsink, or fan.
Otherwise, remove and reseat your PCI and AGP cards.
You may want to start, however, by getting the latest drivers for each piece of hardware in your machine.
