Hammer was an idiot. He spent all of his earning on that huge house, some 50+ cars, and so on if your watched Behind the Music. So he was out of countrol. TLC had a bad record deal, just like Toni Braxton, and any number of others. Which is why they went broke.
As for Spears she made what.. 5 or 7 million from just Pepsi, not to mention all the other endorsements? She is far from broke since she has 2-3 houses, just remodeled the L.A. home, and so on.
Even some tool like her I am sure has her mother, or someone managing her money. She has made more than enough money she should never have to work in her life if managed right. Thankfully this includes releasing another album. So she can fade off as a tween idol of the 90's and vanish.
