The reason we care is because, while some of us couldn't care less what Oprah says on national television, the legions of soccer mom sheep that DO hang on her every word are VOTERS, and voters listen to the popular media and base a lot of their opinions (and preconceived notions) on what they hear. Personally I don't care what Oprah thinks, but it doesn't mean she doesn't have a variable level of influence on the general public.
