According to the BBC, the European Al Qua'ida website has claimed responsibility for the bombings (confirmed as 6 underground stations and 1 bus) and that their statement is being analyzed.
Interestingly, the BBC also comment that the bombs appear to have been set very precisely to cause maximum disruption but little loss of life, which as they point out is untypical of other bombings by mid-east factions. The IRA come to mind, but I thought things were quiet on that front these days? Since moving over here, I must admit I haven't kept up with Europe's "homegrown" terrorists. Are there any other likely candidates?
