Simplify the problem. Take out all the unnecesary shit like the 3d card and soundcards, etc. Then only one stick of ram. Then boot up via cd rom to windows install and see if it's stable or if there's any errors. The only possible things that could be broken are CPU, MB, RAM, or HDD. If you get errors or crashes you should replace one component, boot, check. If you can install fine from here you should then get windows up and running. After which you add one component at a time until shit breaks. You can find your culprit this way.

If you don't want to reinstall but just delete files then it could be a whole other set of problems. Most likely via sharing if you're using nt or xp. what does the error say?
