Okay this has been debated on other threads so I won't spend all day debating it I'll just point out something that those of you who think this kind of abuse is okay are neglecting to consider.
These people will some day get out.
Prison is supposed to be about punishement and rehabiliation or it should be.
What we have now are breeding grounds for monsters. I won't cite the article because it's been a long damn time now. But they article had stated that once someone has served *the number they used* 3 terms they are by that time a sexual offender.
They may not have been before, but they are now. Prison turns them into one because they either rape or get raped...and once they get raped enough they then lash out against a weaker victim whether that is in prison or out in the free world.
So with that in mind, why would you want to send a guy to a place that each and every time he visits it he becomes more and more dangerous so when he does get out the potential for the severity of the crime increases?
This isn't a "liberal" thing. Don't even think about it as a basic human right thing. Think about it as a common sense thing.
