Why wouldn't you want the government to know that you are a member of the Free Speech Coalition if they are getting ready to come after you for legal free speech?

The government wants to win cases. If companies have the money and are willing to put the effort into being part of a trade organization that is represented by some of the best free speech lawyers in the United States, those may not be the people that DOJ wants to target first.

Maybe they will go after some FSC members, but why would they go after people willing to fight when there are plenty of easier targets. DOJ may target the people who don't look like they are willing to fight back.

Joining the FSC puts the DOJ on notice that you are going to fight if they come after you.
