Remember, in the "good old days" there weren't 24 hour news channels, the internet, etc. for information to get out...in those days, you beat your wife and children and stuck your retarded kids in the basement and no one said a thing....
while there is way too much ignorance running amok these days, is the average american really any more ignorant than when there was only one or two news anchors everyone listened to? I thinki ignorance has been around for a long time, it just didn't get any play on the nightly news ;)
