Actually, if there was an industry association (much like labor or trade unions) where everyone had to register, the industry as a whole would have more power.
Now I am not talking about all these get rich, side deal, bullshit things going on now with .XXX and so on. I mean a annual industry 'association' all webmasters pay an annual $25 or $35 into, and then you get some little label on your site saying blah blah, and basically implying you conform with the rules of the 'association'. Hence DOJ leave us alone.
It would also fund lawyers, and whatever else so that this 'association' would take up the rights for the WHOLE industry. Giving us one voice, and also keeping us all as a union sort of.
The way this industry is however, you would never get compliance. It would be very similar to the FSC, only this 'association' would always be the first place DOJ had to go to first, and they would get the bite at he apple before they ever came knocking on your door. Much like a labor union.
