Well he's a very stupid man, which is cool, but the problem is he thinks he's smarter than other people and he says it. It's funny at first, but when you realize he's serious, it's pathetic. However I'd say the main reason most people hate him is, every couple of months he comes out with or is working for some new bullshit program, and they're always aimed at making short term profits by taking advantage of the stupidity of newbies. Look at his new hosting for example. He's never offering anything of value that anyone with a clue would use, it's always designed to basically rip off stupid newbies. Some people frown on that kind of business practice.
