Hmm, I really don't know how to answer this one.
I mean, sure, there were the people who got me into the business, and those that have given me pointers along the way, but none of that has been anything more than just a moderately helpful stranger - the kind of person who might make a serious post in your thread. Yeah, I know them a bit better than that, but in the classic sense, they haven't "been there" for me in this biz.
A lot of people, when they get started out, will meet others that make all the difference in success or failure. It really is special to have someone to help get you started, tell you when you do something stupid and learn the hard way, etc etc.
