In essence, India lacks China's weaknesses. One commentator sees India as the better bet in the long run, with a lower likelihood of civil unrest due to political reform. India also has no comparable demographic problems. Its economic and foreign polices do not put it on a potential collision course with the world's current super power. In fact, the goals of both nations are converging. India's only major foreign policy problem appears to be almost solved, leaving the country without any significant enemies. And with a population that uses English for government and business, India is plugged into a world economy where English is the lingua franca.
