I have said this before but how do you conspiracy theorists account for both Spain and Italy letting in Korean goals? How do you account for Spain missing penalties.

Soccer is a game..sometimes you loose. South Korea has a good coach that has whipped them into shape.

Italy have shown themselves to be the worse losers in Europe. Firing the South Korean kid that scored the goal and recalling all their football cards is just childish. Is it that they just couldn't deal with the fact that North Korea knocked them out in a pervious World Cup and when they returned home they were pelted with tomatos?

Also, Spain hasn't been some major powerhouse this time...remember that it was only penalties that stopped them going out to Ireland.

Japan and South Korea have put on a great World Cup and played host very well. We have had a World Cup free of violence and full of suprises. The onl bad thing has been the winning from the big cry babies of European football.

Sjaiyne, personally I don't think the game was rigged... what people is mad about is the ineptitude of the referees. In the Spain vs. Korea game the refeeres are from Egypt, Uganda and Trinidad y Tobago..all 3 from third world countries with almost non existent professional leagues. What I don't understand is why are these referees allowed to be in a World Cup Quaterfinal game when they lack the experience to be in such a big scenario? there are dozens of refereers from Europe and South America that would have made a much better job.

I took the time to watch the Spain vs. Korea game again (there was nothing better at tv).. and they showed the second goal that Spain scored.. the referee called the ball out when it barely touched the line (the whole circunference of the ball would have to be out in order to stop the play). That was a valid goal.. and honestly, I don't see how a referee could commit such a big mistake. Spain, unlike the italians, have every right to feel they were robbed. The fact that they lost the game in penalties is pointless. The final score should have been 1-0 Spain.. maybe 2-0, since the other goal looked fine to everyone but the referee.

Anyway, the result stands and Korea will play the semifinals against Germany. This is a good oportunity for FIFA to realize that they screwed up and to take action so this won't happen again in the remaining games. Only the best referees in the world should be allowed to participate.. if Blatter wants to get the votes of those countries, he'll have to think in better ways.. cause placing their refereers in World Cup matches is not good for the sport.
