The Phaeton is a joke. THeir biggest mistake ever.
GO for the Audi w12 instead.
I have an 2001 a6 2.7 and a 2005 A8L
I love my a8L, wouldn't trade it for anything else. The stylish interior, sleek exterior. What's not to love about it.

the review that made me buy mine.
Road Test: 2004 Audi A8 L, BMW 745i, Jaguar Vanden Plas, Lexus LS 430, Mercedes-Benz S430, and Volkswagen Phaeton V8
First Place
Audi A8 L
Very quickly, our thesaurus ran out of synonyms for "splendiferous!" From exterior styling to handling, fit and finish, comfort, and technology, the A8 L earned top marks in our voting. In the overall scoring, it wasn't even close: The big Audi was way ahead of an otherwise tightly packed field.
At 204 inches from nose to tail, the A8 L is the longest car in the group. And it rides on the second-longest wheelbase (for now, Audi sells only the long-wheelbase "L" version Stateside, though that'll change for 2005--see sidebar). Interior room is cavernous. "Man, you can really stretch your legs in that back seat," wrote one editor. "It almost feels like a freakin' Maybach back there."
