both partners making a combined amount of $1K a month can hardly be considered a middle/upper class family. $2K to $3K is more accurate.. you can afford private schools for the kids and a beautiful place in a nice neighborhood.... but $1K a month? no way!... I spend that amount on my fish tanks and clothes alone.
