I think you're right. But I think it's because the average joe wouldn't be able to afford to pay lawyers to scrutinize the charges.
I really don't know if Jacko is guilty or not and while I think that sleeping in the same bed with other peoples' children is bizarre it's not a crime (and it's obviously something the parent's of those children approve of).
It's hard to say without if he's guilty of not without knowing the facts, but surely his celebrity status played a role in the verdict. Hopefully we can hear from the jurors themselves sometime soon and get a glimpse of why they came to their verdict.
