Waste of time and money, it will not help. They spent upwards of $16,000,000 here in Del Mar ( San Diego ) putting millions of tons of sand on the beach and after the winter high tide it was all washed back out to sea.
Del Mar is full of multi million $ homes on the beach and a few years back high tides and strong waves damaged about a dozen of them, some so bad they had to be torn down. Nothing will stop the sea unless they put up a huge sea wall and even that will not last forever.
