That was back in around '98. Even back then a "mixed" tank of gas cost about $4 a gallon with what it took to run the beast. A weird blend of premium pump gas, aviation fuel, methanol, and a secret blend of additives. The same today would probably cost $20 a gallon, but a few of the additives are no longer legally available. Go figure!!!
I hung with a fast crowd as a pro wrench spinner with a few race teams back then.
The life of a hot rodder at 3-mpg. But it was fun running a car that would rip the front wheels 2-feet off the ground from any red-light on treaded street legal tires.
