Just to clarify, when using the automatic in manual mode in the G35, it's not like you just put it down into low then shift up by moving the shift handle up one notch at a time like you would do in a regular automatic.
If you'll look closely at the picture of pimporn's interior, you'll see another slot to the right of the main shifter slot. Put the shifter lever over into that slot, and it works like a paddle shifter. Bump it up for upshifting, bump it down for downshifting.
Now, with that said, of course, it's NOT the same as a manual (no clutch so you can spin the tires from the traffic light

), but it's pretty damned cool either way and you can really rap through the gears with it very smoothly and quickly
