Exactly, he's doing it because people watch. Although he is still a scumbag, it's the viewers who have the real problems.
I've seen Maury before, I love how the crowd attacks these little kids for being stupid sluts. I feel like telling them, you're in a fucking Maury audience yelling at little kids, you have serious problems of your own.
