Pictures of the city look good from far, but when you're standing on the streets it's bleak. Last time I was in Seattle, there seemed to be a lot of vagrant sketchy looking people hanging around too.

I think the best parts of Seattle are the surrounding areas, and Puget Sound, not the city itself.
We'll agree to disagree on this one...

There are so many different parts of downtown...i guess my only complaint is that they arent all together..but at the same time its kinda cool that there are like 4 major parts...

You've got pioneer square, international district, business district, pike place market, and seattle center...pioneer square and pike place have all the soul...business district is as nice as any other city minus the 3 big ones in my opinion...international district isn't super nice but i wouldn't worry about getting mugged either, lots of culture, i mean...it can be cool place to go get food and stuff......and lastly you've got the seattle center with the spae needle , key arena, and the seattle center itself......

All this surrounded by neighborhoods that are in the heart of the city essentially but still have trees overhanging the streets and just tons of green everywhere...big parks in the middle of it all....

AND ON TOP OF THAT...you've got beautiful views of the water in one direction and beautiful views of mountains in the other direction.....

Makes me wonder if you visited 30 years ago or maybe confused us with portland
