I am inclined to agree with you on this one, perhaps not on the specifics (it would need to be tweaked), but in principal.
There ought to be a porn summit (away from the conventions) that is dedicated to hammering out some guidelines and principals that might be acceptable to the industry and government alike, as well as developing uniform record keeping forms/systems that will keep the government from being able to seize computers, etc. to view the info at their leisure.
I have one external hard drive labeled 2257 Info - if the DOJ wants to take it with them, I have the info backed up elsewhere; they don't need my other computers, or computers with anything other than 2257 info. Likewise, all of my 2557 is kept seperate from everything else having to do with my business - the inspections are supposed to be limited in scope and I intend to keep it that way.
I'm fully aware that there are some in the industry that like to be daredevils and moon the government at every opportunity. However, most other regulated industries have come to a point where they recognize that it is in their own best interest to organize in order to advocate for, and try and maintain what is in their best interest.
Sadly, it does not appear that we are anywhere near that yet. It's too bad if it takes several people being arrested, companies shut down, or models hurt, in order for some people to face the facts and take appropriate action to strengthen our industry's position.
