Don't be swayed by the glitzier production values and SFX of ST-TNG -- look at the acting (no contest, shatner and nimoy could carry the cast of baywatch), look at the writing, the sheer intellectual bravura of the story concepts, measured against a 1966 back-drop -- TNG has just
absorbed all the cynicism and polish of late 20th century sci-fi and "networking" paradigms, not to mention inherited the full legacy of the first series -- it's not so hard to be v2.0 when the software already has millions of users. Don't get me wrong, I like the show, but there's no way TNG is a greater achievement than ST66! --
