First off burn Norton that program is POS and memory hog (trust me). Go out and get Mcafee AV and Firewall. Also throw Adaware in the mix of all your spyware zappers.
As for losing $50k of your data you are more retarded then I thought. If I had a HD with that much at stake I would do everything in my power to retrieve it. All you had to do was to put the HD in another machine set it as slave and boot-up on the clean HD. Once you get on windows all your data is their for you to back-up. Bam just like new, I know cause I do that all the time for people for free.
I don't know what people are doing to get spyware unless they don't have a third party firewall installed (MS default sucks and easy to inject allowed programs) don't use firefox, and don't do critical updates. I know cause I purposely infect myself with spyware/viruses all the time to learn stuff that I need to.
